Looks like some good numbers for a change even if some seem a little inflated. It is amazing what one model year can accomplish:confused:

The chart was probably prepared by an off shore contractor using data supplied by Chrysler. The data entry employees didn't know Cummins from Cummings and no one took the time to check it.

The bodybuilder guides used to show all the capacities with the standard and optional axle ratios, so I dunno if there are any options for the SRW trucks or not.

Me likely! Wish I could upgrade to a 2013 or maybe hold off and get a 2014. Its not so much the price of the truck its redoing all accessories that stop me: truck camper plug in, camper tie downs, Superhitch, incab adjustable airbags, incab adjustable Rancho shocks, front end light bar with 4 KC lights (2 are HID) and rear extra backup lights. Plus leveling kit and just got new tires on it I really like (Goodyear Duratracs). But it sure would be nice to carry the camper and be under the GVW for once:)

The axle ratios. 3. 42 might be standard, with others optional.

No I don't think so.

The 3500HD DRW trucks list the 3:42 gear set along with the other differentials of 3:73 and 4:10 gears set along with their GVW and towing weights. The Gas trucks offer the 3:73 and 4:10 but no 3:42 gear set. Another thing I notice was that the 6 spd manual transmission does not offer the 4:10 gear set. I wonder if the SRW trucks with the 3:42 gear sets are done for better fuel mileage.

I would guess there are going to be some dis-appointed buyers if all you can get on a 3500 SRW is 3. 42's. I could see it if it were limited to just the 2500, buyers of lower gears could opt for the 3500 to over come this, but if the 3500 SRW is also limited to just 3. 42's that just plain sucks. I think the 3500 SRW has larger diameter tires also, which will compound the high ratio issue. Even the 3. 73's in my son's new Mega dually has the engine rpm's right at the lugging point at 65 mph in 6th.

There are a LOT of spelling software that will automatically change Cummins to Cummings. If the software is set to "auto fix" you wouldn't even notice. My software just tried to change it.

Maybe that's how they got those really high GCVW's LOL

I think Fiat-Chrysler hired a brochure editor from Furd to show them how to get those high GCWRs and GVWRs. Many Dodge-Cummins owners have been proving the trucks could handle those weights for years.

MS Word on my MAC laptop at work will do it also. It also tries to change the formal name Eric to Erotic, but that's a story for a different day. :-laf

So my 2012 3500 drw Lb 4x4 can only tow 20K. . for a GCVW of 28K. . NOW, 1 year later, 37K???? WTH! What could they possibly change to make that happen? 50 ft lbs of torque????
