Just when I get one pickup up and going, the other breaks. This time the throttle cable on Mom's 92. What is the part number, and is it available from Cummins? Local dealer wants $48 for it; it isnt on the recall list, or so the guy told Mom. I thought some of the 1st Gens had that recalled, (along with the rubber ball socket ends on the throttle rod). This one just snapped right where it comes out of the rubber liner, no apparent pinching, just frayed and snapped as I was pulling into traffic. I cant bundle it up with baling wire this time round.

I've tried searching the forums, but they dont seem to be up much more recently than late 2001 thus far. I realize it takes time to get it all done... ... .

Thanks

Daniel

Daniel,

To get the truck going until you find the correct part, try going to a Bicycle shop and ask for a tanden bicycle brake cable. I had to do that repair once and it worked great for me:)

Thanks for the suggestion, but we do have another vehicle to drive (89 Celebrity- 230K, 24MPG vs my 20). I would like to get the cable from Cummins if possible, as they are NORMALLY less costly than Cummins. If I need the truck, I have a good throttle cable that I can swap out of mine.
