Here's a pic of 8000 lbs on our HO 3500, squats it some, it's a 4x4 but looks like a 2 wheel drive here. Four, 1 ton hayliage bails and it handles the load pretty well, sways a little but not bad. Seen a few of you asking what these trucks'll carry. We load it this way every day, power wise you'd never know there on. EZ and a Jacob E brake are the only things we've added.

Impressive...

Thats one heck of a load D. W. I've had about 4k on the very back of my 2500,seemed like it could handle alot more. You do have overload springs I presume? How do the brakes act with that much?... Doug

Yea, we do have the overloads on it. Other than a little sway at about 50 and like getting in and out of a 2 WD with a load on it, handles it well. Brakes fine, plenty of power on the hills. DC's are all we would ever own for work trucks. We abuse'em pretty bad here, and they hold up to it. Still got a 94, 2500 here with 150,000 on it, it's pretty beat up but still runs like a charm. Original clutch and everything. Still use it for pullin cattle trailers a couple days a week. These things are awesome.

Dodge trucks kick A**...

Yea,D. W. we've been using and abusing Dodges for years. This is the first C. T. D. We had a 73 half ton 2wd years ago ,loaded it with scrap diesel blocks. Drove across the scales, grossed 13,000 lbs. :--) . The truck only weighed 4,000. All of them we've had have been way overloaded, used as skidders dragging trees out,and if we always got at least 200-300k out of them. Of course the Cummins will last at least twice that long. I didn't pay $30,000 for a truck to just sit around and look pretty. It earns its keep ;) ... Doug

DWhite, nice pic. I've only had about 2200 lb in the bed of my 2500 SB. Didn't seem to make much of a change, either. I can't imagine even 4,000 lb in the bed.
