A co-worker of mine had his Grand Caravan at a local Dodge dealer this past Friday and told me about another guy who was there trying to get his vehicle repaired. Apparently this guy's world ended a little earlier than this past Saturday's deadline and this story is just too good to NOT post on here.
This other guy had a brand new 2011 Ram 3500 CTD 4x4 dually with only about 4K miles on it. Apparently he and a buddy were out 4 wheeling, at night, along side some railroad tracks. They we having fun until his truck encountered a 4 inch steel pipe that was sticking out of the ground about two feet or so. As well as most of the suspension and undercarriage, the pipe also made short work of his transmission and most of his drivetrain as well. He managed to get it towed to the dealer and the cost estimate was running around $18K for repairs. However, the dealer was telling him that since his truck was so new they'd have a hard time getting some of the parts because they aren't in the parts supply system just yet. Now, I don't know if alcohol was involved here or not. If it wasn't, I'm sure it was shortly there after. I'm not sure that a railroad bed is the best place to be "testing" the 4x4 in a new truck, especially at night, because you never know who or what you might run into. Literally!
Some folks catch on to the lessons that life teaches pretty easy while others need a little help along the way. For those people, here's your sign!
