It makes me laugh how all the Furd boys on there say that getting a Furd is a roll of the dice if you get a good on or a bad one and that he should of stayed with the Cummins. :-laf

Man, it makes you realize just how bad things must be with the 6. 0. It must suck to buy a new $50,000 truck and all of the die-hards at TDS are saying... . "well, you basically have a 50/50 shot of getting a turd, Good Luck!" I looked at a SD, but I just couldn't see gambling with that much money for a 50/50 shot. I feel pretty good about my decision these days. :-laf

Amazing!

I love my truck and after me and a friend (who owns a V10 Ford) pulled a trailer to Utah this week he is thinking about putting a Cummins in his truck :D

Amazes me still that even guys who read the Ford forums still go out and buy the 6. 0L. There are guys that own them using the "roll of the dice" quote. Crazy

Thats what I don't really understand either. It didn't take me much reading to realize that a ford was not something I was going to spend my hard earned money on... I bought the dodge for a reason. . I like my trucks to last a long time.

Hey, don't start another rumor about who owns Cummins. CUMMINS OWNS CUMMINS

Are you sure those guys aren't Cummins guys just posting on the Furd site??? :-laf Kidding. Actually that site was very helpful for me. I was researching for my new business and had to know out of the big 3 who was the boss of heavy haul/long-life trucks. Only took about a week before I found this site and the decision was made final. I am originally a Furd man. Laugh and bash away, it's all I have known. I converted to Cheby about 2 years ago (for light applications the 350 is hard to beat milage and power wise). So when I found this site and looked for how many different bashers of their current rides, there were a very low percentage. Mainly complaints of dealers etc... On TDS there were scads of posters whining about their 6. 0s. Not just repeat posters, but new ones. The Cheby bit the dust when I could not find one equipped with a 6-speed. Maybe it was a lack of research on my part. Either way it goes, I love this CTD! Would not trade it for anything. Oo.

Yep Ford does use Cummins. Its a option!! In the 650 series Powerstroke is the STANDARD engine. Cummins is the option. Chezz don't you know the Ford guys don't want to go there!

Went from 03 CTD to 05 ford 550 4x4

Hey yall haven't been on in a while due to shock of a ford in my family! :{ My brother-in-law traded his 2003 4x4 six-speed CTD for a 2005 ford 550 4x4 PSD with a six speed. He is a cattle dealer and he hauls a 22' Eby livestock trailer with a lot of weight (beef cows, calfs, heifers and milkers). I asked him how he liked the truck and he suprised me by saying he wished he had the cummins back with the pacbrake. Remind you that he was a ford fan from day one. Ithink he would have bought a dodge again but he had nothing but trouble with the front wheel bearings. He replaced 3 on the left and 1-2 on the right. Ford/dodge dealer really shunned him. I say if ya pay 35,000 for a truck and a problem like this is repettitive should'nt a factory rep :-{} been brought in to see if there was something wrong with the housing? This guy spends wicked amount of money on trucks at this particular dealer and nothing was done. Anyone been down this road before? Thanks again JLIGHT

Are you sure that's all the longer the trailer is?? That's not that much weight. I've got a 7x30 and there a lot of guys with bigger trailers than mine out there. Most new trailers are going to 8' wide. An 8x26 has the same capacity as I do. My next one will most likely be 8x30. Then I'll see how fast I can destroy a Dodge.

im starting to wonder if ford owners just make more money that cummins owners. fixinng crap and all the down time involved has got to get spendy, then again my cummins is in a dodge so i get my share too.

i hope he keeps the ford. every for i see on the road makes me feel that much better about my rig :-laf

Some Furd owners are total die hard Furd, no matter what. My neighbor keeps buying Furd powerjokes one after another. He keeps having problems with them and he will buy another. He now has an 04 6L with fuel injector problems, but refuses to consider CTD. I was a Furd man and made the switch in 95. Best truck I have ever had. Grizzly

IT'S CUMMINGS, don't you know? NOT! :p :p :p

Looks like that guy needed a higher rated truck. He has 43' camper. Maybe he likes being with the tow ratings a little more.

The 6. 0L are a crap shoot. My uncle bought one last year. So far so good. Hasn't had a lick of trouble so far. He pulls a 37' 5er. He said it has a lot power. Has absolutely no trouble pulling the camper. Haven't had a chance to ride in it yet. :(
