Single hesitation after rolling to a near stop

Hi all,

The ole green monster is approaching 109K.

I am having a perplexing problem and am looking for the club's input.

My 99 24V rig has an early 'hot' EDGE ,DD1's and JD's clutch.

Recently I am having a repeatable problem despite replacing fuel and air filters.

On my rural Vermont back roads we often roll up to an intersection, look both ways and hit the go pedal without a complete stop. When I do this, especially when being in somewhat of a rush, I am getting one single wicked hesitation and sometimes an associated backfire.

The EDGE is off, empty truck and temperatures seem to have no bearing on this.

One other odd thing is that recently I am noticing that removing the fuel cap I am hearing a whistling sound (like vacuum is building up). This is new behavior and not something that ever occurred before.

Thanks for any ideas,

David Covell

PS: I am off to do emergency medical support at a concert in Northern Vermont for a week. Therefore I will not be back to reply to questions until after the 16th of Aug.

David. . did ya check out the TPS ??

the vacuum is a old issue maybe you just noticed it ?? many old threads about it, so you can do the home work aka search. . [was about a line being plugged on the vent at the tank]

Did you check the tank vents for blockage mud etc. Have you tried driving with out the fuel cap on thus eliminating the vacuum as a hesitation source?.
