Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Hesitation Between Shifts - Sometimes - Need Help

Truck Information:



1. 1998. 5 - 24 valve - 2500 - manual transmission (5-speed) - 4wd - totally stock.



2. Took truck to dealer, they found no trouble codes.



3. Truck is intermittently experiencing some hesitation between shifting. This problem does not happen all of the time. Once in 5th gear, everything is great.

I don't quite understand your problem. What do you mean between shifts?



I have a surging or hesitation problem happening at WOT between 2500 and 3000rpm almost as if I'm getting intermittent defueling. The truck is stock, so I am puzzled. I am hoping the FP gauge I ordered (not received yet) will shed some light on fuel pressures. I can't tell if it's a mechanical glitch or an electronic glitch in the ECM. I can only detect it in 3rd gear. I think the truck pulls through 1st and 2nd so fast I'm not noticing it and it conversely pulls through 4th so slowly the surge is masked.
