Anyone happen to know the size of the "o-ring" that goes on the center caps for our trucks? I need to replace them cause I'm getting a rattle. Southwest Wheel does not carry them seperately, and I cant get any results from Alcoa. I'm gonna try a few different sizes of generic o-rings, but maybe just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else had this problem and knew what they used. It seems they want you to replace the entire center cap.

Thanks

Chris

Wow, mine don't have any. I guess that's why I have a rattle. I never knew that they had o-rings they were on the truck when I bought it.

Yeah, there are o rings that tighten them up. I dont have any to go off of to mic so i just guessed and ordered some 5" id 1/8" thickness generic o rings and will try that. Alcoa did return my call, they dont sell direct and it dont seem that distributors carry them. I put a little silicone around the lip which seemed to work temporarily until I get the o rings installed. It was really wearing the center cap bad.

Great, I'll have to get some. The PO said that he had heard of guys using silicone but I didn't realize they had an o-ring.

I'll pick some up and give it a try.

When I ran the Alcoa's on my dually the caps are held on with the lug nuts. I got my wheels from Southwest and they came with different lug nuts. No rattle. Very tight.

Since I have not put my Alcoa's for the summer, I just went out measured my O- rings. They seem to be about 5 1/8 - 5 1/4", and pretty "thin". I think they are used on a lot of center caps, so maybe if you can find a major wheel distributor they could help.

Thanks PLeavitt. I have a dually also, and i know mine are fairly tight and held on with the lug nuts. I wasn't sure if the o-ring went behind it but it sounds like the dually wheels don't have the o-rings.

If this helps..

These are off of a SRW. Center Cap has about an O. D of 5. 140. O-Ring is about . 070 thick.

Thank you sir. I ordered some 5. 125 i. s. diameter rings, but they are 1/8" thick. I havent tried them yet to see if they will compress enough. If not i'll get some in that size. Thanks for the help. Always nice to have the proper measuring device.
