I think the helper "Max" said a few more words than "stop with the camera" I think he may have said "Hey dumb a** you can pay someone to have that done you know"

I'll go with determination

Hey jjohn!

Congratulations on your spring installation! Glad to hear that even after all of the 'shimming' that you went through that you think the "ride" is worth it. Someday I'll get around to doing the rear springs!

Did your truck "lean" w/ the OEM Springs?

Hey Keeno

No my truck didn't lean with the old springs, not even with the SJ in the front only, less than 1/8th inch front drivers side. After the rear SJ installed a full inch. The ride was great better than I had hoped for. It also sold my truck for full price "without the camper" :( Yes I sold it last Saturday morning to a young couple that wanted it really really bad. I had a couple of sleepless nights after they made the offer from seeing my 2. 5 month old add.

I tryed all night Friday to think of a way to tell them I couldn't go threw with it... but I just couldn't do it to them after I said yes. Anyway by 2:30pm the same day I had a 2002 in the Garage. What a Day! I wish I could have keep them both. So now I have the Wildernest Camper shell for sale locally, It would look funny on a short bed!

But Keeno quite honestly my 90 with SJ front and rear rode better than this new one… Really!! I’m bummed I didn’t finish the project I feel like I sold a child! But that’s all water under the bridge now.

If anyone has tired rear springs my old spring packs are up for grabs to anyone who wants them. They were reached 2 years ago with a leaf added upping the rating 800 Lbs. My 90 sat 39 inches ground to wheel cut out with the factory 3” blocks and 235 85 16’s. #ad

MAX Approves!

Hey jjohn!

Great looking 2002! Max is all smiles!:)

I agree w/ what you've said about the SJ equipped First Gens riding better than the new trucks! It's just hard to get people to believe it! The co-worker that sold me my truck, he bought a 2001 CTD Quad Cab 4x4 Dually to replace it. After he helped me w/ the front only SJ spring install he couldn't believe the ride difference. He agreed that his old truck now rode better than his new 2001. :D

While this is true of the 2 1/2" SJ springs... The same cannot be said for their 4" package. My girl has them on her truck and it has more of a lumber wagon feel.

Thanks for the info on the "Leaning First Gen"... . I didn't realize that this condition is caused by the SJ rear springs. My truck sits fairly level w/ just the front SJ springs. Maybe a visit to National Spring for the rears is in order! :D

I hope that you continue to visit your old pals here in the First Generation Forum even w/ a new ride! We were just getting to know you!:)
