240 outlet recommendation

Got 2 of those. For my occasional use Snap on too expensive. but I guess not if my trailer fell on me from using crappy ones. Snapon probably sourcing stuff from China now anyway.

I'm with ya, I have bought stuff from them as well that is occasional use or even one time use stuff. Tools I use regular I spring for better stuff.

As I read in another article the molds they used were worn out and a shift in the load could potentially cause the pawl to kick out. Sad they don't have better quality control checks on something as critical. I just found out about a co workers brother that was killed 15 years ago from a failed jack stand. It can happen.

Maybe Ron will share what he's got, for jack stands that is o_O

These are kinda interesting, double locking mechanism. Aside from the pawl they can also be pinned. I like the redundancy.
I dont see where they are made.

I use the SnapOn version of these pin type stands when working on my truck --

What do those 22 tonners weigh? I like that style but don't exactly need that much capacity.

Id have to check to be accurate, but they are heavy for sure ... easily 25# each.

Of course I don't need that capacity either (my dozer weighs in at 8 tons) but it is knowing that they simply can;t fail while I crawl underneath them that is important to me and makes them worth the extra effort.

I was looking earlier and saw some 7 ton units that look enticing. Thank you for the recommendation!

My 96 I use 12T units just because of the overall size and distance.

They are heavy as all heck and will hurt you when you walk in to them. Moving them is a chore but for overall size I think they are a good choice for a 2nd gen.

Mine are HF, they were ANSI rated so much for that.

I'm UL shop for industrial control panels and we have quarterly audits and visits by real humans who review our processes,, its not like an ISO cert but its still something, we have to go thru those to build our stuff and slap the certification sticker on our panels, its supposed to mean something and as an owner I take it very seriously these are not life safety panels but still.

Alot of our standards are ANSI cross approved and I really must have drank the cool aid, this recall covers such a large amt of material over a multi period, I really have the question the oversight in order to use the ANSI name on you product. And that logo is the current Font, you pay for use and reprint rights its a $ deal.

Sad as regardless of point of mfg, these were sold appearing to be a certified product with some backing by a USA entity.

I had a good friend killed in an industrial accident due to being crushed by equipment, so knowing someone who used/using these is at risk is very serious to me anyway, because think about being a kid and starting out with limited funds, I know there would be no option now a days besides HF or Northern Tool at a price point a young kid could afford.

Soooo.....I have a set of these 6 ton stands. I used them when I was switching my 19.5's and centramatics from the 2001 to 2015. Normally I keep the hydraulic jack under the axle as safety backup but just this once I forgot and left it under the 2001. Well, when I am mounting tires (especially the 19.5s) I put my knees front and back of the tire so I can easily lift them up a few inches to mount. Guess what? Jack stand dropped, my right leg was not completely under the tire but it came down on a good portion of my calf holy #%&*! I have been in a lot of pain various times in my life, this hurt! Luckily my son was there and he put his shoulder into the bumper in a panic and nudged the truck forward just enough for me to get my leg free. Thought it was broken for sure, even with the adrenaline I could not stand up and put ANY weight on it. Swole up and turned black and blue quick. Was about 2 weeks before I could walk without a limp but thankfully healed up.
