Planning to get a hi-lift for my truck. Is a 48 inch enough for off-road use or should I go 60 inch. My truck is stock and has not been lifted.

Absolutely get the 60 inch. The 48 inch is too small. Oh, and get the red Jack. That is the better of the two jacks.

Agreed... You need lift points too. If you can mount a receiver on the front you're pretty much covered. I've jacked the rear of a 3/4 ton out of a slippery hole with a 48" but just barely. Lifting the front of a CTD is going to be a workout AND the jack is rated for 4660 lbs which is overlaoded a bunch on the front.

Thanks guys..... looks like I'll be getting the 60!

Has anybody used the "lift-mate" (wheel attachment hook) or the "bumper-lift" hook? I don't have a front reciever, but have been thinking of getting.

I've had a 48" Hi-Lift for more years then I can remember and prior to my first 4x4 Dodge Cummins I had a 2WD Ferd, sorriest vehicle I ever had. I was alway getting the Ferd stuck in the mountains since it didn't even have Limited Slip. The 48" Hi-Lift got me out of trouble every time. I never had need for anything else. It's just a matter of knowing how to use the 48".

I still have my "bumper lift" attachment from my "64 Ford" days. That's the last real bumper Ford put on a truck. :) There used to be a device called a bull bag. You attached the hose to your exhaust, placed bag under vehicle, and fired it up. Presto, you're off the ground. There might be something available currently like that.

They are great jacks for getting out of trouble offroad but they are extreamly unstable so watch out when you lift the truck.
