Quick question for hid owners.

All of the bulbs that I have looked at are for low beam only.

Is there enough light that I will not need high beams?

Any ideas how to supplement for no hight beams?

maybe a couple of driving lights or something

thanks

The HID system will not work well the the fluted non-sport headlight assemblies... Spend the money and do the sport conversion--its well worth it. I added HID to mine about ywo years ago and couldn't be happier. The non-sport headlights are poor, to say the best.

If you want to keep high and low beam and go HID, you need to buy one of the new sets of bulbs that have moving capsules or moving shields. These are available for 9007 and H4 (9003) types of installations, and provide both beams without the problem of having to wait for the HID's to ignite when going to high.

Phillips makes one with small moving internal shields that is DOT legal, there is a German company I have never heard of before making big, ugly moving shields outside of the bulb and you can buy the one that moves the capsule from www.hidkits.com for about $600.

Don't get sucked in by the hype of higher colour temperatures. The 4,300K bulbs (the cheapest) are closest to white (daylight - i. e. full spectrum - is about 5,000Kelvin). The more expensive bulbs in 6,000K to 12,000K colour temp are very blue or purple and do not have nearly the luminescence and belong on rice burners only.
