I'm sure I'm opening up a big can of worms by bringing up HIDs in our trucks and I'm aware of all the issues associates with hids but I've had them for almost a year now and I've been through most of the problems. But the light output is awesome. I don't feel like I can only see 50' in front of me like I did with regular bulbs. And the only time I've ever had people flash me is when I've got a heavy load on my 40' dual tandem, even then it's rare. My question is. What would keep someone from just putting in a toggle switch for the headlights in order to bypass all of the flickering and randomly turning off issues? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i cant believe no one flashed you as much... I just upgraded my lamps with piaa..... and I was flashed all the time, started to **** me off.....

sounds like like you bought the cheap chinese stuff . I have been running a BMW set up with the projectors and have never once had the issues you are having. Could be a thermal issue with one or some of the electronics overheating. Really not a good idea running them in a stock headlight housing as you get a lot of light scatter it's the worst thing you can do to the oncoming traffic.

If I was flicky my high beams at every little car or truck that had the dumb $^%# HID lights in them or the fake Blue light bulbs I'd basically be driving with high beams on all the time. Can you tell I don't like them:)

City cops love pulling them over and giving them a fix it ticket:) Can be spendy if you've ruined your original lights cases.

The stock reflectors are not designed for the HID bulbs, as stated in the past the light scatter is incredible and BLINDS oncoming traffic. Personally I do not want to be the cause of someone wrecking. I am modifying a set of lights with Hella projector units. I am placing Hi and Low unit in each of the housings and they are HIDs but throw a nice beam on Low and really nice beam on High. I am still working on the mods and will post once I get them installed.

Or you could could go the bi-xenon route. I got mine from The Retrofit Source and couldn't be happier. It does take some time and effort, but the result was definitely worth it.
