I continue to have EGT issues when pulling a 22’ travel trailer?? With pedal half way to floor I’m pushing 1200 degrees. I generally pull with Comp setting 1 x1.

I’m not sure why I have this issue with 4” and aFe, even with DD2.

Any thought would greatly be appreciated.

is overdrive locked out? There should be no egt issues unless you have iintake leaks

low boost will equal high egt's

Yes, overdrive is locked out and boost hits 30 easily at WOT. Unfortunately, I do not recall the boost when pulling @ 1200 degrees. I guess I am to bussy watching the EGT gauge.

The truck is an early 2001 auto and I have heard there is an issue with small turbo but not sure. I didn't expect this issue when I put the DD2 in.

Maybe a little more information is in order. How heavy is the trailer? What gears do you have? What tire size are you running?

My truck at 15,000 gross will hit 1200 easily on the slightest hill when in 5th gear (1X1). I have to shift to 4th to keep the temps in check.

I'm not sure of the weight off the top of my head but wouldn't think a 22' would pose much of a problem. However, when I pull there is usually six of us including the dog and my wife packs health. As far as tire size I'm rulling 285's.

Note: I do pull full of water which helps the weight.

Let me know what you think.

Jim

I upgraded the turbo on my truck to an HX35/12 and my EGT's are still to high when pulling my fiver!

Gonna put on a 14 exhaust housing if I can find one for less than the price of my first born son!!!

I’m a little out of touch: Three quick questions if you do not mind.

1. DonM’s 1. 6 I’m assuming are your injectors. How are they comparable in size to the DDII’s ?

2. What’s a guy looking at dollar wise for the bigger turbo housing? How much did it help EGTs?

3. The 14-exhaust house: Is this a bigger exhaust manifold?

Ok, I slipped another question in, four.

I appreciate the help / info.

1. Mach 1. 6's are around a 90 hp increase. The DDII's are quoted at 75-80 hp for the ETC model and 90 hp for the ETH model.

2. Depends if you want a wastegated housing or not. Also depends on the turbo. PDR sells a wastegated 14 for $415 and a non-wastegated 14 for $177 according to their website. Bigger housing help flow more on the top end, but can end up being lag pigs on the bottom if they are too big for the truck's setup.

3. Not the manifold itself, but a larger exhaust turbine housing for the turbocharger, yes.
