I have been running my 04 with a Banks Six gun along with the speed loader for the past 2 years. I neglected to put gauges in along with the chip. My truck has 69 000 miles now and I just recently installed the auto meter gauge package. I found out that with the truck empty and the chip on I am reaching EGT's of around 1425 degrees before the turbo. I am guessing these are significantly higher while pulling my holiday trailer and flat deck.

My question is, how do i tell if i have done any damage due to excessive heat? The truck still starts, runs like new and burns no oil.

Only way to tell on the pistons, would be to pull the head off. Or, if there is a bore scope (tiny camera) small enough to fit down the hole where the injector tip tokes through.



I know the newer trucks are made to run hotter for emissions, so I don't know what the safe limits would be for your truck. You may be fine. Don't take it to the bank, but I think a big problem probably would've shown up by now, if there was one.
 
Empty 1425* is to high, you can bet it is a whole lot higher than that while towing. I have my TST set to defuel at 1350*. You can run hotter than that, but not for extended periods of time. Fill out your signature so we know everything you have done to your truck, it will help you get the correct imfo. you are looking for. BRIAN
 
1425!!! :eek: That is 200 degrees hotter than my peak while towing. I was running around 1100 with the stock turbo and towing. I asked around and found that even 1100 towing for extended periods is bad. I am set at 900 average and maybe get to 1150 on hills towing. I can get down to 600 empty on the highway, but usually run around 800 empty. the only time I get close to 1400 is drag racing and then only for less than 13 seconds :D
