High EGT's, smoke, bad mileage, and whistles

Help! All I did was put on an EZ and K&N. Now my EGT's are constanly pushing 1200, it smokes at every stop light, and there is a loud whistle. (My right foot is also getting tired!)

Which EZ did you put on? I have the new EZ Comp running on Stage 3 (out of possible 5) and I find EGT's around 700-800 at cruise, no smoke, and improved fuel mileage. Recently got 21. 5 on a trip with no trailer towing. Also, my wife comments on the fact that the engine is quieter than it used to be. I am continuing to gather stats on the various stages compared to before the installation. It has now been on just over 5,000 miles total since installation on June 5.

SandDaemon, glad to see you finally bit the bullet. That loud whistling from the RE-0880 is quite normal.

Add an exhaust and the EGT's will come down some. It's going to be tricky to get them lower with the heat we have right now. I can give you a list of things to help, are you ready for all of this, though?

Once you start, its hard to stop.
