My CP3 is leaking enough that I'm starting to look toward replacements. I'm considering a 30% over reman. Does anyone have any thoughts on the longevity of a modded CP3 VS a stock one? Anything to look for/avoid? Current setup is 50 HP injectors, TST, and AirDog.

When modding any CP3 its the builder that counts,Life should Not be shorten by modding any pump. Now here's were failure's begin,Listen to what the Builder recommends for lift and volume requirements. Most after market (lift) pumps run higher Pressures then Necessary for T&C Pumps,Thier is some HP to gain with higher lift, but it will increase wear on the GP. You may also pop O-rings,Worse yet if the internal seals fail and the weep holes gets plugged you are going to be making oil, in some cases GPM. Competitions Pumps require more support,Just like most aftermarket part(s) the mod works, but eventually fails due to lack of configuration or hardware. Their are good reasons that only a handful of people are capable of modding Pumps to competition level.

Your builder should be capable of handling the support necessary to ensure years of life.

The CP3 on my '06 went bad a few years ago, and Todd at T&C got me a higher flow one. No problems, and it seems that my idle pressure is higher than before. I thought my rail pressure before was around 64-6500, now it is around 68-7000. I'm not sure if that means anything, though. Just an observation.

OK. Since my airdog is adjustable, what sort of pressure should I be trying for? Is factory default setting of 15-18 psi in the right ballpark?

I cannot answer for other builders. . We recommend 8-12 PSI with Max of 15 PSI, you can run higher, although its NOT My recommended running DD Pressure.

Rail pressure is soft ware driven. At idle if the rail requested pressure doesn't come close to actual there is a problem. Programmers and stock update flashes have changed idle speed pressure changes. Under high load conditions the modified pump should shine

OEM specs are -5 to +15 psi from Bosch, so unless your builder recommends something higher I would stick in the upper range of that info like Todd said.

Is that because at 0% commanded position the FCA flows more fuel than is needed?
