high idle for 08

hey guys... just brought home my 08 manual quad cab, and the dealership tried to turn the high idle/pto on, and they said it couldnt be done to the manual, any truth to this?

I think I've read that in another earlier post or possibly in the Dodge literature.



If it is correct, I'm not sure, it is probably due to concern about having the engine running, even revved up to 1500 rpm, and someone standing outside and reaching into the cab and accidentally hitting the shifter and jamming it into gear. Everyone knows the parking brake won't hold back the mighty Cummins.



Lot's of decisions are made by the lawyers on the staff of the manufacturers because of fear of lawsuits. The stupid reverse gear, door open alarm on the '06s because some dummies sued Daimler-Chrysler is an example.

it would be pretty hard to put the truck in gear without touching the clutch... . i was really hoping for the high idle in this truck... oh well.

After I bought mine, I asked about the high idle. I was told the same, no high idle for manual trucks.

I thought there was a thread on here somewhere that contained a post about how the manuals could be adapted to enable this feature. Thought it had something to do with a jumper or a kit from Mopar.

Not true. The high idle can be enabled in the manual trucks. You also need to either get the additional clutch switch or ground the wire under the dash in order for it to work.

Ok guys, i grounded the dark green/orange wire under the hood, still no high idle... the dealer was supposed to turn the thing on when i first bought it... . do you think its still turned off, or have i not done everything i need to yet? Opinions?

I was slogging through the owner's manual for my new c&c last night (not very enjoyable reading) and happened to read a note that said the dealer enabled fast idle is available on automatic transmission equipped Rams.

If you grounded the wire and it doesn't work, I'm betting that the dealer didn't enable it. Take it back and have them try it again.

Check my sig, I had the High Idle program turned on my C&C about six months after purchase when I read about it here on TDR. The tech said nothing about my G56 being a problem, although mine is a C&C.
