I think my ECM is toast. How do I confirm?

Hey Guys:

I'd like to have the High Idle option/function for my 2005 5.9 with a manual transmission. I hear you can make a to the ECM to enable this function.

Does anyone know about this? …. and could you tell me how it works?

Thanks guys, any input is much appreciated!

Hey!

Just double checked and it's already enabled on your tune. All you need to do is ground ECM Pin #22 and it should work.

I did program it to work from 900-2000 rpms, instead of the normal 1100-1500. When you engage it the rpms still go to 1100, but you can increase or decrease it from there.

You need a Cummins part number 3164263 to pin into the ECM.

John, thanks for looking onto that for me! I'm going to have some electrical work done and want to incorporate this into the scope of work as well.

Next question would be how do I activate the High Idle? I spoke with a friend that has a 2014 3500 Auto. He tells me when in Park, he turns on the Cruise Control then hits the Set button, that initiates the High Idle, I forgot to ask him how to cancel it.

Again, Thanks Guys

John:

I've been looking into this. Can you recommend where to get that part? Ebay seems to have that part but I'd like to find one that has a long enough lead with a ring terminal.

Can you (or anyone else) point me in the right direction?

Thanks again!

I don't think there is one that comes with a ring terminal. You'll have to use a weatherproof butt splice and add some wire/ring terminal.
