Does the 03 H. O. have the high idle feature off of the cruise control like the newer trucks?

Joe

Nope.

The 03 has a seperat box for the cruise, unlike the newer trucks where it is included in the ecm.

You cannot have the dealer activate it but I can't remember who but somebody on here made it work with some aftermarket parts. I'll try and find the link.

I have the DSG kit on my 04. 5 and I would consider taking it off and selling it to you possibly. I have not decided yet. I know I have the original instructions and the only difference on the 03 is that you solder in to a different colored wire. if you might be interested let me know

Has nobody figured out how to do it using the PTO sense from the ECM (Plug B pin 22)? I wish I could get my hands on a DRBIII so I could play around with it for a while. There has to be a way to do it.

I just thought if it was possible to have the dealer activate it I would but thank's for the offer on the high idle kit.

I installed a manual throttle cable on mine. I have an early 03 also. I mounted it through the knee panel under the steering wheel in line with the top of the go peddle. Works great. Throttle from ldle to 3000 rpm if you want it. Those guys with the newer trucks just wish they had it that good. :-laf

Do you have any pics and more info on the cable?

I posted a few pictures in my readers rigs. I'm not smart enough to do it so I had to wait for my son to help me out.

I bought a 4' cable and cut it 6" longer than I needed. I had to build a bracket to mount the cable to under the plastic knee panel and screw it to the dash frame. You'll have to eyeball the location to drill a hole in the dash frame. I took the pedal out to drill it. When you get your bracket mounted, you can hold the plastic in place and mark it from behind to get you location to drill the knee panel. I had read about this from someone else on the TDR, but I don't remember who it was. Hope this helps.

That was very helpful. Thanks. I think I'm going to try the same thing. That is a similar set-up to what I had on my 1990 W250.

I got my cable at a local mom and pops parts house that has since gone out of business. I like the twist and lock because it was much shorter than the quick release ones that i found. They stuck out about 3 inches. I didn't think it would look like it "fit" in my cab.

Randy,

Do you have adjustable pedals? If you do, is it a problem with them moving and your ability to use the throttle lock?

No, I do not have adjustable pedals so no problem for me. Depending on how much they move toward the seat, It still may work fine. I think the handle has about a 3" travel.
