When I first got my truck in '07 and it was started on a cold day (20 degrees) it would go to a high idle(1000-1100 rpm) and the exhaust brake would activate to quickly warm the engine. Since having the dealer do some work last October on the electrical system this feature will only activate for 30 seconds then the engine goes to normal idle speed. The dealer tells me the newest flash eliminates that feature and all the new trucks are this way. Are they correct or are they full of you know what. Thanks for any input. I really miss the quick warm ups. I now step up idle speed with the cruise, but it was nice having it done automatically.

My truck will not even go to high idle at all at first start up. When I back my truck out of the garage in the morning during the winter. I need to engage the cruise control then hit the set button on the cruise. This will then take the truck to high ilde 1100 to 1500 RPM's. I then turn on the exhaust brake, I run the exhaust brake all the time. The brake only goes off when engine is shut down. I believe you need the dealer to enable the high idle feature using the dealer scan tool. Mine was done for no charge but I believe some dealers will charge for this work.

I have notice on real cold days if I do not set the cruise soon enough let's say after 5 min's the truck will go to high idle on it's own. This does not happen very often since I try not to let the truck idle unless the cruise control is set and I am at high idle. I try not to let the truck lug (600 to 700 RPM's.

My truck has only had one cold soak of below 20 degrees but the automatic high idle did kick in while I was taking out the trash. I did run for a minute or two before it rev'ed up but it could have been 2-5 minutes as I wasn't keeping track of the time.

I do have the latest flash as well and I have not read of any other member losing this feature with the current flash. Could one of your temp sensor be bad? Atleast your manual cruise control idle is still turned on.
