3rd gen SDFK on Ebay

I’m trying to decipher if I have a injector problem or throttle problem. I have my Smarty jr set on tow and while plowing it started to have what I would describe as a rough idle. I set the tune to stock and kept on plowing and after I took my foot off the throttle it would idle at 1,000 rpm then after about 10 seconds it would drop to 750. So I put the tune up to Performance and I have had no issues at all. I am thinking it might be an injector but I was wondering if the APPS might be the problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks

Update: so I put the economy tune in and ran that for a couple days and had no problem until last night I got home and it started the rough idle. It’s very intermittent. I changed my fuel filter and added injection cleaner/lubricant and ran down to half a tank. I’m not sure I ran it enough for it to make a difference. I am going on a long trip next week so maybe after a couple more tanks with the additive it will help

Possible sticking injector. Get a scanner and monitor the APPS. The cost of a scanner (the $100 HF scanner will show data and a bunch more) will be very reasonable compared to the potential damage to a piston or cylinder. Once diagnosed you can make the appropriate repair.

Okay I’ll have my buddy check it out I am pretty sure he can get his hands on the scanner. The truck does have 204,000 on it so it might have an injector going

What was the coolant temp?

At elevated coolant temps the rpms will increase to 1000 until they cool down.
