Does anyone know if there is any wire that can be setup to be manually activated to control the high idle feature. I would like to be able to manually flip a switch and turn on the high idle. In the winter here it gets a little cold, so if making a short stop i will let the engine run. The engine has to get cooled off pretty far before the auto high idle kicks in. Besides that I think it is far better to run at high idle rather than just at idle.

The '06 and above have a feature that allows the cruise control switches on the steering wheel to be used to activate and adjust the fast idle programmed into the ECM. I'm not sure what year first introduced that feature, possibly the '05 has it also.

Fast idle is controlled by the ECM. I don't think there is any wire on any high pressure common rail engine that can be used to turn up the idle.

Fill in your signature with the year and model of your truck so that members can answer a question. We can only guess you have a 2003 - 2007 since you posted in the Gen III truck section.

My truck is an 05. I don't think it works with the cruise control. That is how alot of the commercial trucks are. I will try it.

Yes, the cruise controls it. Hit the set button to idle it up to 1100 rpms, use the accel\decel buttons to ramp it up and down. It needs to activated in the ECU first.
