Hi,

I have a 1999 Dodge Diesel, 5 speed and live in MI and would like a high idler kit.

I have seen a lot of post, but yet to come across anyone who sells a High Idler kit or should I be searching for something else

I would consider building my own yet there seems to be so many post and none seem complete

if anyone has even a used one or plans that work would be greatly appreciated

Regards

several others and myself have figured out how to make the cruise control work for high idle. i cant remember the post title, ill pull it up later and send it to you.

I have a brand new one that I never got around to installing on my truck if you are interested. It can force high idle or 3 cyl high idle at your choosing.

Nschroeder: I sent you a email

Mhannink: the link you sent seems to be for 12V's or will this also work on a 24V?

I have seen a lot of schematics on different boards, but does someone have a complete schematic and parts list and a how it works afterwards

As ever listing seems to way over my non-electrical head, the one about the cruise seems neat has he come out with a turn key kit,

I also have seen write-ups on ones with a variable tunning knob, but most post seem to list error codes over 1550 rpm and then say something about the PTO wire, but never any more

need a basic detail on what to buy and how it needs to be put together if I am going to attempt to build my own

Thanks all for the response

we where working with 12v's but i think it will work on an early 24, im not certain though.

what i did on mine is power pin 3 from the battery with a relay, pin 1 is grounded through a momentary switch. pin 2 and the control side of the relay are grounded through an on/off toggle switch. it works pretty well, the only problem is finess. it does not provide consistent jumps in the rpm. for that you need the 555 timer mentioned in the post. however with a little practise its not hard to get a "feel" for it and get the rpm where you want it.

wiring is pretty simple. tap into the wires for pin 1, 2, and 3. mount the switches where desired. run a wire from the battery + to the control side of the relay and to the power in pin on the relay. run a wire from the other pin on the control side of the relay to the toggle switch, also run a wire from pin 2 of the cruise control to the same switch. then ground the switch. on the power side of the relay run a wire from the normaly open position to pin 3 on the cruise control. finally pin 1 on the cruise goes to the momentary switch switch and the switch goes to ground.

Hi all,

Still looking for one would like to find one, would prefer one with a variable speed control

thanks again,
