the title says it all how many of you have high mileage trucks >100,000 miles with 450-500 HP? i am looking to go to about the 450-500 range and dont want to have to worry too much about reliability its done. Now i am talking about normal driving not sledpulling or anything like that. mostly driving down the highway, around town, and embarrssing my dad in his 6. 0 truck. Thanks in advance guys

C'mon guys I want to know also, I am at 60k right now.

Banks 6-gun at 17k

transmission at 32k

tst at 37k, 6-gun came out

sps66 at 40k

sticks at 48k (don't care for the sticks)

I haven't been on dyno but 450+ seems reasonable, I'm waiting and watching for trouble (that part of bombing sucks).

also would like to know this would i be at about the 450 mark with the powerPDA (present) a set of injectors and a turbo prolly sps62 i dont wanna hear banks sucks cuz my dad got it for me so its a free "bomb" :) just would like to know what HP i would be at with those3 mods

04 3500 dually 4x4 - NO Engine Mods...

Pulls 18-22K lb trailer all the time... never been thru a full tank of fuel without the trailer.

185K miles... . 3 sets of tires, 1 set of brakes at 160K, 1 lift pump (warranty), 1 Injector pump (Warranty), conversion to pump in the tank. 1 set u-joints in the front, 2 sets of u-joints in the rear, 1 clutch... .

CBurnside if you use the power as you said it should last a long time. #1 thing is keep the EGTs in check. How you get that power makes a difference too. . . stacking the wrong boxes and overworking a stock turbo is hard on everything. I would suggest an injector upgrade (increased flow) and relatively mild box (at least not one that runs a lot of pressure). And definitely upgrade the turbo.

Good engine maintenance of course helps. I'm a believer in synthetic (hope this don't start a discussion) but you might read this (esp. Don M's comments on 2nd page) http://www.nwbombers.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23636&st=0

With good driving habits, maintenance and BOMB configuration there's no reason why you can't get an easy 200K+

what HP level is your 96 at vaughn? i see you have quite a few miles are you still on the original engine?

thanks

I am not at 500, but should do 425 to 450 easily if I dynoed her. I put the TST on at about 12000 miles and have a littler over 102,000 now. I bought the TST because of duration, and I wanted to stay away from the pressure boxes because of injector damage. Usually run it at around 3hp/2tq until I pull up to a Maxipad or Stroker. I just adjusted the valves this weekend for the first time after reading the motivating threads on TDR here. It did seem to quiet it down a little. I usually get right around 20 miles to the gallon, hand calculated. I give her about a cup ful of Stanadyne almost every fillup.

I was amazed at how clean it was under the valve cover. I usually run Mobil Delvac and change at 5000. I started out on Delo but the odor after an oil change ran me off. I have seen inside literally thousands of engines in my business and it just reinforces how regular oil changes prolong engine life. This thing looks like it has fifty miles on it. It is running like a big happy tomcat getting his belly rubbed(purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring).

I use my truck in sales and do around town and a lot of highway miles pushing 80mph. I seldom tow. I do not baby the truck but I don't beat on it either. I am expecting to get at least 400,000 out of her, maybe more the way things are looking.

I am at the 450 to 500 horse range. I leave my truck turned up all the time and i have 102,000 miles on it and it has been chipped since i bought it brand new. I have a fuel pump and it has been fine! I have had 2 sets of u joints warenty front axle seals warrenty and 2 cluches. But i tow a 20,000 pound backhoe atleast once a week! All i do is keep an eye on my gauges and keep out of the pedal (Sometimes)! I am not worried about anything besies tires and clutches!

I need to get my FASS installed and get to a dyno. I'm at 233k right now and didn't start seriously bombing until 150k. I have an SBC CON FE, AFE w/tt, HTB2, ATS exhaust manifold, 80HP injectors and a TST w/twins program. It'll flat out move. I ran an 06 3500 with exhaust and the VA box and pulled 6-8 trucks before shutting down.

Mileage is very good and no breakages.

I pull consistently with the truck, not near as heavy as I used to but will still gross 20k (with a high of around 32k) with fair regularity.

Not that high, around 320 if I had to guess (never dynoed). It was stock until 355k. It's doing OK but it's had some issues (chronic miss, oil usage, blue smoke). It could use a refreshing.

I bought a 2001 brand new and put 225,000 miles on it and at 10k it got 608 hp. Never done anything except change oil, besides obvious stuff like oringed head and clutch. Had 2003 I bought with 70k on it. My cousin now owns it with 110k and it has 500+ hp. My 2001 saw egts of over 1600 degrees constantly. I pulled very very heavy loads with it and if it wasn't pulling, most of the time on the weekends it was on the track. I think I was really lucky with that truck. I'm pretty sure this 2005 won't take that same abuse.

Well, in my 2001, I never even put a u joint in it. I bought 5 of them cause I knew at the track, dumping the clutch at 3400 rpms, I would need one. But never did. Never broke anything at all. I've had several 12 and 24 valve 2nd ens that never gave trouble(of course after fixing the fuel supply problem on the 24 valves) Now I've had 4 3rd gens, and I've replaced rearends, u joints, rail relief valves and we have to worry about valve seats, injectors, rails, etc breaking or going bad. And as far as the over all truck, I think the 2nd gens are way better built trucks(own a body shop also). These new ones can't handle the abuse and working like the older trucks can in my opinion. But they do have their advantages, rack and pinion steering, better braking system, better head gasket, a lot easier to make big power with and drive way better. The steering system and braking system is really why I decided to get my first 3rd gen. The 2nd gens drive like crap. Its like a fight to hold them between the lines. And I got tired of replacing brakes every 5-10k miles . But if i were gonna work a truck like I used to pulling extreme heavy loads and in the mud a lot, I'd definatley be using a 2nd gen. Wish i could afford two. An 800 hp 12v for fun and this new one for the trips :-laf But I'm just an old poor boy :{

190,000 miles and figure I am 500+HP. My truck seems to have really liked the mods, especially the SPS62, she sure breathes in and out alot better. Oill looks better at oil change intervals than it did when it was stock. Truck tows a three car auto transport trailer 90% of the time.
