I'm having trouble sourcing a replacement gasket for the high mount stoplamp at the back of the cab on my 2004 Dodge 3500 4 door.

The dealer told me that it's no longer serviced separately and I would have to buy the whole lamp for $185. 00!!!!

I suppose I could use some silicone sealer, but I'd like to do it right so I could replace the bulbs when necessary.

Anyone have a line on a gasket?

I have 3 thoughts... . I'd go to a wrecking yard and look for one... I'd go to a commercial supplier of rubber products who supply by the sheet... Here in Spokane its a company call Notatwater and I'd purchase a piece of scrap (drop) and carefully cut one... I could supply you with a company who can custom cut you one with your old one as a sample, you could make 100 of them and offer them through Geno's... . or you could get one of the industrial products from Loctite and use a very slim bead of the product and let it set up on the lens and than compress it in place when its at the proper stage of set up to function as a water tight seal.....

Hope one of these thoughts help...

Check with a glass shop (one that does residential & commercial glazing) and see if they have any foam tape with adhesive on one side only. It is used in "compression" glazing. I ran a strip of it around the perimeter of my 3rd brake light the first time I had to replace a bulb- sticky side to the light. It seals by compressing but lets the light come off cleanly when necessary.
