Well here goes my first post,
I recently rebuilt my 96' cummins motor two new sleeves, new cam bearing, enterprise camshaft, all new cummins bearing, seals , home made twins, aux fuel system and oringed. Started the engine oil pressure normal, couldn't get the lift pump to work right had a blister on my finger from priming the pump so many times. Switched to aux eletric system. Engine started promptly, this is where the problem started Oil pressure in truck went up to what I am pretty sure was close to 110 psi. Pulled oil filter promptly and it was only half full. HMMM! Checked by pass valve and pressure relief vave both fuctioning properly. Installed mechanical gauge and installed new filter started truck just before gauge hit 80 I shut it off. Loaded up the 91 d250 with 376,000 miles and went hunting in Wyoming for 2 weeks wondering the whole time what this could be. Searched the achieves for high oil pressure, numerous hits. The only one that seemed close was someone stated check the ground wire near the drivers side battery on the hood support. Checked it and the ground was not even connected, I have not had enough time though to hook it back up and try it again. has any one had this experience with there truck.
and why is the filter only half full when I pull it off.
Thank you
for your time Ron Sergeant.
