The Dodge web site will now let you build 2004 trucks. I tried several combinations and could NOT find a standard output truck as an option. The only two options were the Hemi ( not on the 3500 SWB) and the HO. I am sure this does not apply to the Communist states with the smog Nazis.

On my window sticker it does not list any charge for the high out put option. Nor does it have a charge for the 6 speed. (3500 SWB, SRW,QC) This explains some of the big jump in base price between the 03 and the 04 trucks. Those two options were $1000. 00 extra last year.

I just built my 04 and the same truck in a 03 and they were only about $215. 00 difference. $43730. 00 VS $43515. 00

I just built one with a tow package. I have the window sticker from my truck, no truck yet, but I do have a copy of the window sticker. There is no charge for the HO or the 6 speed.

If it lists the hemi and the HO as options what exactly comes standard then? Am I missing something here or is something not quite right?

On the 3500 SWB, the HO is the only "option". The diesel has been standard on this model, however, you could choose from the 250 HP or the 305 HP. On most models you can choose from the Hemi or the 305 HP. Last year you had as many as five choices of engines. The 5. 9 gas, the 5. 9 TD 250 HP, the Hemi, the 5. 9 TD 305 HP, and the V-10.

No more S.O. or 47RE trans?!

On the Dodge website (at least in states other than CA) there is no option for an S. O. or the 47RE. H. O. or the HEMI are the only "options" and the only trans to choose from are the 48RE or the 6 speed. Very Interesting.

I honestly feel sorry for the guys that bought the '03 with a S. O. and 47RE combo, smaller rear-end, etc. Re-sale is going to suffer on those if all future trucks are H. O. , etc.

Not all of us need the extra power I have a SO with a 5-speed and love it. I have never liked a six speed to many gears I guess. I live in Washington State and the Trailer speed here is 60mph ! with 5 over for good measure. I have yet to find a grade in the mountains or valleys I can't hold 65 in fourth. That is with my 7K TT attached. There is a market for Standard Outputs the torque and the horsepower in my truck is more than I need. In the future you will see the power decrease as the EPA standards change again in 2007 that date might be the end of the CTD as we know it. The parts guys are already rumor mongering about a Mercedes engine in the Dodges future. And I am sure it will run more like a Gasser imitation
