When my 98. 5 Idles i hear a high pitch noise that sounds like extreme pinging maybe like a gas engine would sound like. Or another and more accurate way to describe it would be a loose bolt rattling. Sounds like metal to metal vibrations produces high pitch noise.

I has done it since I bought it used from the dealer with 61,220 on April 1st.

The noise seems to be drowned out when you rev a little higher. But is always back at idle or about 1000 RPM.

I know this pretty vague. But if anyone has any ideas. It would be appreciated.

I ran into something similar that ended up being one of the three the air cleaner housing mounting bolts. Only reason I found it was that I ended up changing to a BHAF setup.

Maybe a broken valve spring? The noise of the engine would drown out something like that. Take a stethescope ( if you have one) or a screwdriver and put it on the valve cover (move it around) until you hear it the most and you can pinpoint the noise before ripping things apart. Put the metal end of the screwdriver against different portions of the engine and keep your ear cupped around the plastic handle.
