I have a 2000 2500 dodge. The rear brakes started making a high pitch squeal at 12000 miles. Took it to dealer changed rear shoes, ie. per tsb new part number for shoes. Started squealing at 14000 miles. Has anyone had this problem or know of way to fix it? What brand of shoes, adjustment procedure, this noise is driving me CRAZY!!! HELP!! only hear it when applying brakes lightly.

Thanks, Mark Taylor

Mark,

I just traded-in my 2000 2500. I had a similar problem with the brakes. I’m not sure I can actually suggest you do what I did, but it did cure the squealing.

I got so ****** off one day that I drove to the top of a long windy road and road the brakes hard all the way down. When I got to the bottom the brakes were just about on fire, but the squeal was gone. I was desperate…couldn’t take that noise anymore. The brakes worked fine after that.

Mine squealed for about the first 7k mi when new. Went away after I started pulling 5th wheel.
