Passengers in my 95 have complained lately about a high pitched "whistle" which seems to originate in the instrument cluster. It does not seem to be affected by engine RPM or power level changes. The turn signals do change the pitch of the noise.

The intensity seems to change each time the engine is started, and sometimes it disappears completely.

Any ideas???

A vaccumn leak will cause that , I dont know if all your heater controls are vaccumn but the 2001 is , pull the bezzell off from around the instrument panel and take a few screws out from the control and take a look at your lines... ..... good luck
