I changed my air filter over to an Amsoil air filter,( the type with the oil in it). Since I did ,when I accelerate I hear this high pitched whistle comming from the engine. Is this my turbo, and is this normal with this type of air filter.
You are more than likely hearing your turbo spool up. The sound is much more noticeable with a K&N air filter. If you remove the turbo ring it will be even louder. A straight exhaust will also increase the sound since the engine will "spool up" faster. I personally enjoy the sound!!
There is a possibility that what you are hearing is an air leak from your turbo to intercooler and/or intercooler to intake manifold clamps. They have a tendency to loosen up over time but are easily tightened. This should be done periodically. Sam
