hey was just wondering you guys that run 4,000rpm regularly what you all have your timing set at, i had my timing at 15* and it would start to miss and smoke white at about 3,000 rpms after i installed my 4k GSk and now i bumped the timing up to 17. 5* and it now wont do it untill about 3450-3500 rpms, thanks in advance

I am going to run mine at 18 degrees. But if you have the tools you might want to experiment a little, thats what i am going to do.

just havent o-ringed the head yet and dont want to get the cylinder pressure to high with the stock head gasket.

As I hear the song... "Danger Zone" playing when you said this. .

17. 5 degree and big rpms will net you the head job you seek at some point sooner than you think. IF your not studded and o-ringed/fire-ringed the rule of thumb is no more than 16. 5 degree of timing safely.

I ran my truck at 19 with no added rpm kits,a 10 plate and stock injectors for along time. Was I safe, nope,it eventually netted me a cracked head(between number 5 and 6),broken exhaust manifold when taken apart(it was stock and leaving anyway) and a huge bill because of having to start with a new head.

The truck is yours, you do with it what you feel is right for you, just remember, even when you think you may be able to avoid damage,it may just get your wallet too..... Andy
