Higher 6 gear for g56

Has anyone swapped out the lower 6th gear in the trans part# starting with AD for the higher 6th gear in the #AE trans? Or does anyone know if it is even possible?

Its probably not just ONE gear. More then likely a whole series of match gears or a cluster. Bet real costly. Bet something hard/costly to retro and better off swapping for the newer AE trans. Tho I could be wrong. LOL

It's still about double the money (including labor) than to replace both axles' ring/pinion with the new 3. 42.

And having BOTH sure would be nice! So then you are right back to an OD unit in cost

I posted about this idea a couple of weeks ago, and have been doing some digging to find out how. Basically its a full rebuild, as every ratio is different in the AE transmission vs the AD transmission. My next quest is to find a wrecked 08' and get the G56 from it. Then I will sell my unit to offset SOME of the cost.



I haven't seen any definitive numbers on the price to swap to 3. 42's, does anyone have an idea?
