Has anyone every experienced a higher EGT reading after installing a 16cm turbo housing?

At my normal cruising speed (2100 rpm) unloaded I have about a 2-3 lbs drop in boost (was 12 lbs) and 0 degree drop in EGT (750-800 deg). If anything it seems like I gained about 50 degree. Also at WOT my boost has dropped about 5 lbs (to 42 lbs) and I can still peg 1500 degrees on my egt gauge but it just takes a bit longer. Maybe 1 or 2 seconds.

Overall the new housing doesn't do much (for me) until I'm in the higher rpm range and even then it very little.

No wonder after looking at the fuel supply you are giving the motor!

Why didn't you want the HX40 with a 16CM housing???

FL70CAT is right. With the heavy fueling/injectors you have, it is highly recommended you go with a turbo upgrade. I would say an HX40 would be a minimum jump.

The normal driving egt is a bit higher with the 16 than the 12 because boost is lower. Max egt is lower because of lower exhaust restriction with the 16. You should not have bothered with the housing. That level of fueling mandates a bigger turbo.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will buy a larger turbo (when I have the $) but when is it going to end? First it was a mild fuel plate, then the K&N filter, New Intake, Bigger Injectors, etc, etc. .

and just thing I just wanted alittle extra power out of my 180hp CA truck... Thanks again

What you have reported and what Joe said is about right for that housing. I have a 21 I could send you. :-laf I had the same plate as you, and I had to slide it back quite a bit to keep egt in check. Then I slid it all the way forward and noticed no increase in power from the middle. Then I took it out alll together and didn't notice any difference again. Sold it and haven't looked back. :D The next pump should be going on in a week or two, and it will have a plate BTW. ;)
