History Channel "Holocaust" on this week

I had just watched the History Channel focus on the Holocaust. I have a grasp on what happened, who did what and why, but I never really had it presented to me in a good documentary. What really got me was the interviews with the survivors and Government workers (Soldiers?) and their reaccounts and views. There also was startling footage on the propaganda films that were shown. I really did feel a sense of loss for those People. I know this Country we live in has it's shortcomings (what society dosen't?), but it's the freedom to do or be what you want that's golden.

I too have seen some of that series. I have also read some writtings on the Warsaw Getto and have listen to stories from my father when he was in Patton's army liberating the death camps.

I always wonder how things would have been different if the peoples of eastern Europe had the same rights as we in the US, especially the right to bear arms, to defend themselves and their communities. It would have been a lot different for the Germans, they most likely would not have gotten half as far as they did.

This is one of the reasons that Germany did not mess with Switzerland.

I know you say thank God for the "freedoms" we have here in this country, but those freedoms are being eroded every day. Freedom is not for the faint of heart or the lazy. It must be perserved day to day.

Who would have thought some 20 years ago that (to a small scale) smokers would become the social "outcasts" they have been made out to be by the gov't and liberal news media. Who knows, some day they may be made to wear armbands and then rounded up to be moved to a "safe" place away from the non-smoking public.

Never let your gaurd down and never assume it could never happen here.
