Just picked up my truck after replacing a bad/leaky injector pump. ($1,000. 00 covered by warranty) Noticed truck was still idling and running rough. Brought it right back to Dodge and the service guy said it's possible the leaking fuel from the pump saturated some electrical wires/components. I asked if this was a common problem for this truck and hemsaid he's seen several at this dealership and heard of others. The new one is a modified version. (I asked and that's what he told me) Has anyone heard anything on this????

Nice that the service tech ignored the apparent rough idle after he replaced the pump!!!

just had my cp3 pump replaced. dealer said it was a three piece pump and was leaking where sealed togeather and saturated crank sensor plug with diesel fuel. all covered under warrenty even with mods. dealer also said pump was a redesigned version.

Are we on the verge of seeing a rash of CP-3 failures? Why did Bosch redesign the pump (what flaw is in the original)? Are the close tolerances within the pump being ruined by dirty fuel that's not cleaned enough by the 10-micron stock filter?

I picked mine up and brought it right back. My truck is running rough ever since the pump apparently broke. They think maybe the fuel saturated something. Would the crank sensor cause a rough idle? Forget I asked if your laughing!

If you talk to heavy duty mechanics they all seem to feel that the biggest problem is the 10 micron filter, consensus is that it needs to be 2 or 3 micron. Had my LP replaced @ 50k & inj pump 1. 5k later. Both now have warranty till next summer. Before then I will add a Cat filter housing & a separate pump which will work with filtered fuel. Should last forever
