Yes its true... My baby was rear-ended by a guy that was asleep at the wheel. I have some questions that I'm hopeing people can help me out with. I have been blessed with another fellow dodge Ram owner to sell me his bed for $400 with the tailgate and lights intact. However my stock hitch and bumper were also damaged in the accident when the guy went under me. Since I'm paying out of pocket for my bumper and hitch can anyone tell me where I might find the best prices for parts like that..... Thanks Guys.

P. S. The guys 2000 Volvo S50 was totaled... I love my truck. :D :D

Sorry to hear you were hit. Did the guy have insurance? It seems that his insurance company should pay to have your truck fixed.

Sorry to hear of the accident...

CT is a long ways away, but I have a friend here in washington that has a 2001 hitch he would sell cheap, I am sure he would want shipping also... may not be worth it. Let me know if you want his email.

You might try the classifieds... lots of us put on different hitches, and don't use the factory ones any more. You could put an ad in there "looking for"!

If the guy is driving a 2000 Volvo he ought to have insurance. Let them deal with it. I dont see why you should pay anything out of your own pocket if he is insured.

Even if he wasn't insured, your insurance ought to pony up beyond your deductible. Hope this comes out in your favor. If you have problems, there is usually a state insurance commission that can "lean" on them.

I agree about the insurance. In fact, when my 1500 was wrecked, my insurance company paid for the whole thing and they went after the guy so I didn't have to deal with it! (I love AAA)

In the best case, your insurance deals with it, in the worst case, you need to go after his insurance.

No way should any of this come out of your pocket.

It's a standard receiver hitch you can buy most anywhere. Of-course the hole pattern is specific to the locations on the Dodge. bumperauto.com has inexpensive Luverne bumpers; I have one -- about $200 complete. A long ways short of what Dodge wants.

So... . you spent the insurance money on BOMBing now have to fix the damage out-of-pocket ehh? ;)

Tell the wifey 'honey; insurance hasn't settled yet -- but the truck seems to run lot's faster after getting hit'!

A suggestions for the rear bumper...

I got tagged on the freeway last year. Dodge

wanted $575 for the rear bumper that foldered

and got into the body work on a very minor hit.

I checked around and found that Ruenel's rear

bumper was only $540 plus another ~$150 for

the receiver. It is made from 1/4 plate.

I have since backed into a tree and been hit

by a 35' flat bed. No real damage from either.

The receiver is rated over the frame at 15K#'s.

It is a pretty stout thing.

In case of interest here is their website:

Oh, they make a really nice front bumper too.

I have not gotten one of those (yet). ;)

I have a stock trailer hitch that came off my 2001 CHEAP (make offer). Shoot me an email. I took it off in favor of a Reunel rear bumper. Thats something maybe you would have liked to have had before volvo ran into you. :D (Of course he might have been in the hospital ;) )

Trumbull isn't too far from Milford so I can drop it off for ya when Im at Hooters on the 12th.

Good luck and sorry :(
