alaska route??

Towing with 35's

I see and hear " Drop" in the Hitch world and would like to know where this is measured from.

Does 0. 000 drop mean the center of the Hitch Ball is on the same center line as the 2. 00" square reciever.

If so a 4. 00" drop would put the Hitch Ball center 4. 00 inches below the center of the Reciever center.

Thanks for your Time and Help.

My understanding is that a 2" drop hitch comes right in at the bottom of the 2" square receiver. I have a 8" drop and it is measured from the top of the square tube to the top of the ball platform.

If this isn't right I hope someone sets me straight. This is way I was taught to measure it. -Jason
