My suggestion is more expensive... Not what you are asking but I owned one and I swear by it. .

The Hensley Hitch... . If you are not familiar with it. . go to www.hensleymfg.com ... You can get a free video to check it out.

This is a WD hitch and Anti-sway all in one. Also all of the hitch stays on the trailer as you see in the pic

here is the only thing you take off when unhooking. It is the towbar and you get the one you need to make the trailer level when hooked to the hensley. Up to 8" rise or lower.

Here is how the hensley turns. The lower black unit hooks to the towbar which hooks to the receiver on your truck. When you are in a straight line, there is no pivot so it has the same feelings of a 5th wheel. That is the antisway. when you do a turn, the mechanics of the unit then make an angle for turns. Follows closer and does easier backups.

here is a drawing of the hitch so you can see the whole thing

Heres a side view of the unit hooked up. . had this on my 28' Desert fox Toyhauler

My Ravings? WONDERFULL!!! When I first drove this in high crosswinds, and had almost no sway, no more than like 5th wheels, I was impressed. I drive truck for a living and I have see alot of TT that rolled because of Crosswind sway..... Bet they had things like the 4 link and so and so... . didn't help bacause it still has a pivot point when straight...

Cost? About $3,000 You might be able to get a demo unit for less if there are some available.

hope this helps you decide what to get. If the Dual cam is better then get it but I seriously suggest the Hensley.

Yep, those Hensley's are nice but you have to pay to enjoy the security and safety they provide.

I have Reeses' WD with their dual cam sway control. cant tell you how it pulls as i dont have the trailer yet. my hopes would be that it would pull OK and not really need any sway control but for the $165 more i figured i might as well have them.

I wish the Hensleys were more affordable they would probably sell more of them. if something is a few hundred more, its worth it to me but double the cost is where i really start to question it. kinda like an Escalade or Denalli. they're just over-priced suburbans and yukons :D

i'm not saying the Hensley is all about the "bling" they are just out of my price range when something else will work. if i pull this thing and its a nightmare and endangerment, I'll have no quarrels over calling Hensley.

I've been using the same Reese Dual-Cam set up for the last 17 years. I never have any sway. You must be careful on the initial set up with level and bar tension so you have the weight distributed properly. NEVER put any kind of lube on the cams and saddles, they must run dry. Only lube the trunnions at the hitch head. Also, when the rig is straight, make sure the cams ride down evenly on the bars, if not they will induce sway as they try to center themselves.

I believe most times trailer sway is the result of improperly set up hitches.

Pullrite

I have a pullrite 10k 90degree hitch that I like quite well. I purchased it for my previous truck, a Ram 1500, to pull our TT. I included the price of the hitch in the total budget for the TT purchase, trading trailer for safety. It was a selling point for the wife, she wanted to ensure that we would not experience sway.

It is also a WD and sway-control hitch. It physically moves the pivot-point closer to the rear axle, where the Hensly arrow uses geometry to project the pivot point in front of the trucks front bumper. I chose the Pullrite as it is somewhat less expensive than the Hensley. The Pullrite tows very similar to a 5th in that the trailer will 'cut the corner' and it backs like I expect a 5th to back. It responds to input slower than my utility trailer on the bumper hitch.

I have lost the ability to store the spare under the bed and it does interfere with exhaust routing. I had to cut my exhaust off just behind the rear axle, will likely route it out the side in front of the axle, don't think I could sell stacks.

What ever hitch you choose, set it up properly and don't push the envelop while towing.

The Reese dual cam hitch assembly is worth every nickle you pay for it. It is actually very cheap for the performance and service it provides. I used one for many years and about 150k miles of towing before buying a fifth wheel. The parts that wear are replaceable and the major components will last forever.

The dual cam hitch assembly does require a little time and effort to install and set up the first time but once it is set it requires no more maintenance.

Buy one with confidence.

The Hensley hitch is just plain awsome and I have used several different types. They can be bought used way cheaper on hitchtrader .com . I bought mine for $250 in one of the freebie add papers, just got lucky becuase no way could I afford a new one. Also check eBay
