Anyone know a good place for unique hitch accessories?

I need a equalizing hitch shank that adjusts down low. My father in-law just bought TT and got a husky equalizing hitch. Only problem is it is set up to tow with his chebby suburban. My truck towing reciever is way too high. I have an 02 4x4 with camper package. The rv place has a catalog with a shank (eaz-lift brand )that will drop it 9 and 3/4 inches. I dont think that willl drop it low enough. Im thinking a 12-14 inch drop will work. Has anyone else encountered this?

Flipping the axles is not an option, as neither is putting a wheely bar on the back of the TT. The moron at the rv place thought that suggestion was funny:rolleyes:

To clarify this is an l-shaped adjustable shank (they called them stingers at the rv place)that slides into the truck reciever. The ball mount/sway bar attachment bolts onto this piece. It is adjustable by means of holes drilled thru the bar stock. Is fabricating a shank my only option?

This place may have what you need:

Back in the day when I worked in a Hitch shop, we used to fab our own drop shanks when we were fitting lifted 4X4's. What we did was take 2 solid 12" shanks and weld them together to reach the drop desired. I'm sure if you talk with a shop that specializes in the fabrication and installation of hitches, they can set you up. By the way most places that sell trailers rarely, in my experience, have the knowledge to properly fit hitches to anything but the most common vehicles.

What is the hitch height on the trailer?

I pull a SunnyBrook TT with an advertised hitch height of 22 inches. I'm using a Draw-Tite bolt-together trunnion weight distributing hitch with a Draw-Tite shank ("stinger"). These are off-the-shelf parts. I could drop the ball another 1½" if I needed to.

This trailer sits level behind my model year 2000 Ram 2500 4X4. I have no camper package.

Thanks for the help guys. The lowest drop I could find on hitch online was 8 inches. It might be time to visit the friendly neighborhood welding shop. U-haul has a 12 inch that Im going to look at tomorrow.

The height on the trailer hitch is only 9-10 inches. Looks like something to pull with a mini van,heh heh heh.

Gotta get it going as Im heading to the Rockies in about two weeksOo.

Drop Hitch

I don't want to ruin your day but I don't think your going to find what you need on the open market and will probably have to have something made up.

Is there anyway of raising the trailer ball coupler?

FWIW - I purchased the 9" drop from a Les Schwab Tire Center in Oregon
