Heavy weekend rains in Kentucky

Heading back to work after lunch this afternoon...stopped at a light for a few minutes and then BANG. The dumb-*** behind me must have taken some pressure off the brake and rolled up and hit me. Luckily I had my hitch in the receiver, so all he hit was the hitch. Scratched some paint off the hitch, but no other damage. I can imagine there would have been more damage to the bumper if the hitch was not there.

Normally I don't keep the hitch in the receiver, but I used it a few weeks back and for what ever the reason just left it in there. GLAD I did. It will now stay in there. :D

I know you can buy those bumper guards, but looks like a hitch will do the same thing.

That happened to me a few years ago and the other guy Ins. Co. Wanted me to pay for the excess damage caused by the hitch. didn't even scratch the paint on my hitch. My Ins co. told them to pound sand.

Just be careful with your shins, especially at night:) My wife gets after me for leaving mine in. When we are working around my rigs and I hear that distinct clank, I start walking away, for some distance :D

I think it is pay back for when she brags about walking under my goosenecks without ducking, then she hears that thump when I don't duck low enough and bend the metal with my head, Lol

I always have hitch in the receiver. And it appears I always forget about it too, since my shins always have a bruise that's just about the height of the hitch :D

had a truck stolen once and it was recovered because of the hitch.the thieves got the truck out of the parking lot at work then because of a security system it shut down,so they pushed it with another truck and their truck got hung up on my hitch and they pushed it down a dead end street and waited there for the cops.
