First run with the Ultima 2020

well, I don't know... one sales guy tells ya this - another tells ya something else. To get that extra 100hp/200 or so Tq do I get the chip (+-$800) or do I believe ole' Doc Performance (+- $2000) sales pitch about theirs being better for the engine in the long run (now that I'm getting this truck just right I want it to last). . if I beleive the DP guys I could save $350 bucks right away by not having to buy gauges as my EGT would be miles away from the limits anyway. Hey, any of you guys w/ experience want to give me a suggestion or two I'd sure appreciate it. . KEEP ON TRUCKIN'

Most bang for your buck, without any bs, would have to go to Piers Diesel, Or Enterprise Engine.

IMO.



Besides, the phone call to Piers is worth it for shear entertainment even if you don't buy anything.

Anyone who tells you you won't need guages with bombs can't be trusted... . PERIOD! That statement alone should eliminate Dr. P.

They have a very poor reputation on this site, so beware.



When this site search feature gets fixed, spend some time to determine your choices and bang for the buck. Post questions for clarification. Lots of honest and helpful people here.

Your HO is right on the EGT edge stock. You should have gauges even if you do not bomb the truck. I do not know where you live but towing in the mountains w/ stock engine and exhaust you can exceed 1300* pre turbo.



Gauges should be the first addition to any diesel, even before the floor mats or mud flaps or rail caps or bed liner or bug deflector or... ... ...

Welcome to the world of diesel fun. I can't comment from personal experiance on Dr. P, but a lot of folks have and very litttle of it was good.



On the user profile. look at the top of the screen, just below the advertisement banner and you'll see a button, "user cp", click on it and go the edit profile option, you can then make a permanent profile of your truck.

Any body that will tell you that their mods dont require you to monitor the engine functions will sell you ocean front property in Arizona.

. . NOT!... hey, I gotta thank you guys out there - potentially coulda been an expensive screwup. I think, after doing a little more homework (like i shoulda before i opened my fat yap on this thread) i will go the EZ box, 1st stage injectors, 4" exhaust, EV isspro gauges route (which ought to be about the limit without upgrading my clutch) and that oughta give me all the grunt i need for towing... thanks again guys!

I did almost the same thing with my 6 speed ETH truck. And it works very well. The EZ and injectors dropped my exhaust gas temps by almost 200 degrees there is better fuel efficency and MORE POWER!!!!!!!!!! I still have the stock exhaust on it and am quite happy with the spoolup and performance. I am running the stock aircleaner becaus of poor fit of the K&N filter and have noticed NO differnce in boost or performance.
