Inquiring minds are wondering. Here we are at this huge point in the Horsepower quest. Many have set fourth and have pioneered some radical stuff. And for those who did ... ... THANK YOU! And Again for you guys DANG YOU!! Now I am awake late at night thinking , wishing , going thru the couch for lost change and sofourth because of you ;) :p

Anyhow, back to the Q: With the onslaught of twins and rediculous boost levels I am left wondering something as I get my shopping list together. I hear roumers of 12mm studs breaking and o ringed head gaskets winding up in the next area code and whatnot. Now comes the big daddy 14MM stud (Augh Augh) If theese studs have mammoth clamping force ..... what is the weak link going to be???? I am thinkin maybee valve guides? Piston rings? Who will be the weakest link?

For now the PDR 40 will juuuust have to do ..... No studs No glory ... . Unless y'all wanna make a charitable donation to a certain "TMTT" fund

:D

If studs won't hold, then a last resort is to run a bead with your favorite welder between the head and the block.

Ask Scheid, Mitchell, and Haisley how they're keeping the top end of their motors together.

I think you find that o-rings are not the answer anymore. Fire rings are the latest trend that seems to hold the best under higher boost levels...

Matt, If fire rings and the 14mm studs are used, what is going to give if the head dosen't? Rod, lifters, valves... something has got to give...

jrandol... don't you know who's rig that is ??

there are several very long threads on this board about David's rig [mostly transmission/oil wars type of threads]

Pushrods could very well be the weak link ... or cam lobes.

jrandol, Do me a favor and cut it out LOL!!!! Forget twins or trips ... . Quads Yep and blowoffs like no tomorrow so when I lift quick it can play the godfather anthem.

Is that "your moms" rig? I have read about it but never seen photos... ... .

I don't think this guy has enough air/air intercooler surface area...

Check out the air/water intercoolers between the 'stages':

As for what's going to blow next... it all depends on how much boost you are willing to run.
