Has anyone started bombing their HO+48RE equipped truck?

I've been waiting for TST to come out with their box. The reason for waiting, is to get the integrated gauge info, to avoid putting in the pods, and because the cost seems excellent for 3 gauges and the box.

But before I do that, I need to consider my 48RE. DTT is showing torque converters, complete trans, and valve bodies for the 48RE. Has anyone gone down this path yet? What have your results been?

Personally, I'm ready for the TC, right now, with the HO motor in stock condition. The TC really seems to slip excessively, giving away a lot of power. The stock valve body seem pretty good, however. The shifts with the stock 48RE are as firm as my 47RH was, after I put a TransGo shift kit into it.

48RE + DTT =VBG:)

Did my '03 last weekend. TC and valvebody along with internal upgrades. Engine is stock for now, only 2k on it. Converter is way better and valvebody cleaned up lazy shifts. Had to go back and detune valvebody a bit as I couldn't convince the wife that second gear light throttle "chirp" of rear tires was normal. :D Now has short, crisp shifts.

You will love the difference.

Cost question

How much for the TC and transmission upgrade, and can anyone recommend a vendor in the St. Louis or midwest area?

One other dumb question- does a transmission/Converter upgrade help mileage? I keep thinking that putting more power to the wheels will mean lower RPMS, but as I often prove, I ain't no stinkin' engineer.

If I was to be in Dallas in mid-October (13-17) for about a week. How much, and how long to do the same mods on my truck?

Hey James,

Think I can "chirp" 4 tires with a "second gear shift with light throttle" and a stock engine?

Sfarris--call DTT 1-866-504-4002 or email me your # and I'll call you.

Sdbelt---email me your #, I'll give you a call. It could happen.

Stockard-- I'll let you drive my truck at the next meeting. As to the "chirp", careful what you ask for. :D
