A friend just picked up his new 03" CDT HO AUTO. after taking it for a spin we were looking under the hood, we could't find any reference to HO other than the engine tag indicating hp. does anybody know if there is a reference? it was night when we looked maybe i missed it... thanks

My '03 3500 has a label on the drivers side of the valve cover identifying it as a 305 HP engine. The "model" field has "ISB 305" in it and there is also a field for "advertised horespower" which of course is 305.

Drove a HO 48RE today and

when looking at the eng noticed that they moved the sticker to the drivers side of the plastic top cover instead of on the boss by the throttle link cover.

Also, want to add that it felt good to be driving a diesel - almost bought it butt, was ONLY a 2500 and a 4x4 to boot.

1st impression, has just enuff power to "feel" like it wants to put some black marks down but not quite. Maybe it would if the air restrictions were removed (better filter and dump the "guts" of the air hose). Might even take a "box" to assist in this mode of travel. The trans feels tight and shifted w/o any revs between the shifts. Liked the auto but still in-between the 6 and the auto. The auto would be a choice when the e-brake is approved for it. Some of the hills I traveled down could use one to keep speed from inching up on the auto.

The above is just a first opinion and only put about 15 miles on it, but those miles did bring on the smiles :D :) :) :) :D

Da diesel-less SOTSU!!

\\BF//

Yours didn't come with a big chrome valve cover with red lettering? (real obvious when you open the hood)

You must've got the SO. :D

Task,I think DC is dropping the 250hp rating,so the 305Hp will be the standard engine, that may be why they wont put HO badges on them. The 2nd gen had no distinguishing badges either if i remember right, just the 6 speed was all that set it apart, and even that could have been gotten in 99-00 with a standard output.
