Sorry it took me so long to get over here. I'm still new to the board and I just got around to reading this forum (spent all my time to this point catching up on ALL the posts in the powertrain forum and the archives -- Wheeewww)
Anyway, I've been keeping track of hours on my truck since it was new. Up until this week I've been using the ET meter on the computer (runs when the key is on so it sould be "pretty" close).
Last weekend I installed an Isspro mini hourmeter in my dash. I was a little nervous, but it turned out easier than I thought and it looks OK. I used the lower right-hand corner of the instrument panel where the gear indicator would be located if I had an auto -- right under the fuel gauge in my 99. Right now it's hooked up directly to the battery until I run the meter up to total hours on the engine.
My records indicate I currently have 806 hours and just a little under 23,000 miles (28. 5 mph avg). That seems REALLY low to me, but most of my driving is in traffic (lots of stop lights). Plus I do a lot of off-roading in low range (2-6 mph) over granite trails here an Arizona. I think my results are about what Dodge expects too since their maintenance schedule is something like 6000 miles or 200 hours (30mph avg).
Hope this helps.
Kyle
