First of all thanks for everyone's support for my situation. Life goes on! Been doing some spec-ing on RamTrucks.com to see what kind of price I am looking at. I am wondering at what my 2012 DRW will actually bring at a trade or private sale. The two dealers in my area are both quoting Kelly book values which top out at $36K. The truck has a SnugTop canopy, Torklift heavy hitch, and a front end receiver hitch. Friends tell me I should be getting close to $40k. I do see some for that price on Auto Trader. Just wondering how hot a commodity this non-def 2012 4x4 is in my local market?
If you can get the price of the new truck discounted by any rebates, and a decent amount of the profit down towards invoice, and get $36k for your 2012, I’d run with it. The $36k figure was barely attained by some of those with the buy back fiasco regarding the front end/tie rod parts.

Additionally........ask any of your friends if they’ll give you $40,000 for it TODAY.

Would YOU give $40,000 for this truck TODAY if YOU were buying it?

Friends,

Personally, I've NEVER waited for ANYTHING to come out, I NEVER ordered a vehicle, I've always purchased OFF the lot, ALWAYS close to or at the END of the model year, and ALWAYS go for the DEAL. I'm pretty PROUD of the deals made as well.

NOTHING wrong with ANYONE doing against ANY and ALL of the ABOVE. It's all about choices and opinions. This is just ME.

And back to the OP, I hope our efforts are helping you reach a good decision.

Cheers Y'all, Ron

Its not a wait game for Me, its a want, Mechanical EGR for Diesels has plagued it for close to 15 years.

2013+ 6.7 use very little exhaust gases, the EPA has some mandatory rules requiring the device for on road use, IMO, it just clutter's up the engine Bay.

The OP has had a sad turn of events in His life, It seems he's in no rush, What's that famous saying! Good things happen to those that are patience.

I hear ya brother. I ran my 09 4500 DELETED for 8 years WITH a Smarty on level 5 GCW 33K lbs and some change. The 6.7L is the BEST performing of ALL the Gens up to 4th, IMHO, of course. :D

Just to make my point though, I had the understanding a while 2019 was going to ELIMINATE EGR. For me, I bought my hold over 2017. Maybe its LESS you waiting than me. Same with the 3.OL diesel in the Wrangler. I bought mine in 2014 AND it's still NOT in it.

So, hope it DOES come out in 2020.;)

Cheers, Ron

Thanks for all the info guyz. Well things worked out. A buyer looking for a DRW for a camper purchased the truck for $39,500. I am in the shopping mode and have "built" my replacement. Got several quotes from local RAM dealers. For $70k plus, I am going to get exactly the truck I want. I can sit on my hands for 60-70 days the dealer says it takes to build one. Still kind of kick my self for putting new tires on, 4 weeks before I decide to sell it!!

Why even buy a diesel? From what you stated you will not be hauling heavy loads. Get a gasser and save 11 grand. Sell the truck go to Kellys Blue Book you will be surprised as to what it is worth

To the OP; glad it worked out for you! $3500 more in your pocket over what a trade value would be is nothing to sneeze at.

We are gonna need pictures of that new truck when you take delivery.

I just took the plunge on the 2019 SRW HO, and I considered selling private vrs dealer trade. In Nevada you get a trade in tax credit, meaning that if you get 50K for your trade and the vehicle cost 100K, you only pay sales tax on 50K. It worked in my favor to go with the trades. I had them appraised and could get a few thousand more private party, but would loose tax credit costing more in the long run. Go with a 3500 SRW HO, for the better trans power and value.

And as I recall, you were adamant (based on your “insider” tour guide info) that this EGR-less engine was going to used in the 2019 trucks.

I assumed that was the case, she was very secretive. I assume below is more likely what she was talking about. She did confirm it would still be a 6.7.
