I have the factory fold-out towing mirrors on my truck. Two weeks after I received my truck, my right glass became loose and useless. The dealer replaced it.

Now it's a month later. The left mirror has become loose. The dealer says there's a national hold by DC on these mirrors now (or words to that effect).

I have a guess as to what this might mean, but I'd like to know if anyone has some insight on what might be going on.

Also, is anyone else having problems with loose glass on their towing mirrors?

On Hold?

I have the same problem with my right side mirror. I called the dealer a week ago about it and to have them order a replacement. Today they called and said it was in and stop by to have it installed. I'm not so sure about that hold.

Mine aren't loose. In fact, if anything, they're too tight. They really get distorted when adjusting. I keep waiting for one to crack each time I adjust them. I've read about others that have broken. I wonder if they're trying to fix the problems with them breaking or getting loose. Or maybe they're about to come out with a power version! Now that would be nice!

Mirrors on hold here also !!!

Stopped by my local dealer and was told the mirrors are on hold and that a redesign might be in the works, he also said that power was 2 to 3 years away.

can DC make a product that won't break??

don't us dodge guy's have all the luck:mad: :

i also have tha tow mirrors. i ordered mine a month ago. got them in two weeks. the week after i installed them, my passanger side came loose also!still wwaiting for a replacment. kinda tuff baking up with my windowless cap unless i have a co-pilot... ... james

have you seen the new mirror the dealers are carrying as after market, they extend on a double arm like the chevys, but the head is so big-- about 12"X15", it might even be bigger than that, when not in use , you could use them in the house as an additonal mirror. they sold, i beleve for about $450. 00 non-powered.

I had the replacement mirror installed this morning. It's nice to be able to see the right side when backing-up. I ask about the hold and the dealer said what hold! Maybe the hold is only in certain areas?

I have the towing mirrors from the factory. About a month ago, my right side mirror is bouncing, mine appears to be the whole arm bouncing. Is there an adjustment for this???

TIA

Had my truck almost a year with no problems at all. I've never even had to make an adjustment. I don't ever flip them out though.

I noticed a truck at the dealer today that had the mirrors and the door handles painted to match. Looked pretty sharp. Are they available from Dodge like this? I believe it was a conversion though, because it had a bunch of other plastic stuff on it.

just got my truck back

from getting a new paint job :D and yes a brand new pair of Mopar towing mirrors.

took less than 10 days for the shop to get them.

I've got the fold out, trailer-tow mirrors. While my truck was still sitting at the dealer, just prior to my taking delivery of it, I noticed the right side mirror glass "gimbaled" freely - in other words it was just flopping around loose. They had a replacement in stock and fixed it before I drove it off the lot.

That was my first, and so far only warranty claim (knock on wood).

I've had the truck on some reasonably rough roads since, and nothing else has jarred loose.

That's strange

I'm with Fireman Dave on this one. I didn't think those mirrors could be too loose. I can't have my girlfriend adjust them because she can't push that hard! They are hard to adjust being this tight, but at least they will stay where they are for the most part (except when I take it to the car wash). I LOVE these mirrors! I never have to look behind me to back up, just look in the mirrors.

Speaking of mirrors if anyone needs a set of stock heated mirrors with out the operating switch I have the ones off my 981/2 I only used them for about 6 mnths and went to the power vision they are really cool, the only thing is that the head is horizontally mounted I wish it was vertical, they said they are working it ??. If anyone is interested please e-mail me,thanks Joe Moglia
