I just discovered that small holes have rusted through my tailpipe on both sides of the rearmost hanger bracket, about 13 inches back from the tip. The system appears solid from that point forward. I sure don't want to replace the entire system for that. I would appreciate any suggestions from members who may have had a similar problem and how they solved it. I was thinking of just filling the holes with muffler cement.

I would just patch it till it gets worse.

Some folks here are always saying you don't need a stainless steel exhaust system. All I can figure is that they don't live where the roads are salted. Yours rusted out where it did due to salt spray coming up off the tires.

If it's just a small hole, mix up some JB Weld, & smear it in, on & around, it'll fix you up for a while, & might just last longer than the rest of the system.

Thanks illflem and Dennis for the suggestions. I just washed the truck and realized there is a color underneath all that dried salt spray.

bmoeller - the system is aluminized steel
